Mission Statement

The International Women’s Think Tank serves as a catalyst for ideas and action, promoting research, critical thinking and innovative solutions related to issues that impact women and girls. IWTT acts to broker ideas, stimulate debate, encourage creative and practical solutions and facilitate interaction in pursuit of resolving issues. We encourage the discovery of solutions to problems, and facilitate interaction in pursuit of these goals. We work to stay on the cutting edge of issues and will continue to bring inspired people together to ensure that we provide current updates about issues related to women and girls.

About This Cause

The International Women’s Think Tank’s (IWTT) goal is to optimize, support and increase the global mandate of promoting gender equity and empower women leaders by connecting communities from across the globe with clearly defined goals centered on critical issues as addressed in the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles. In order to stay on the cutting edge of issues, IWTT offers interactive workshops in multi disciplines. We believe training through interactive workshops is an important key that builds confidence, improves skills and knowledge. Each topic is developed by experts in the topic area with goals, motivational and inspirational components included in the subject development. As an example, IWTT recently partnered with (TAPPI), The Technical Association of Pulp and Paper Industry/Women in Industry Division to host a Keys to Self-awareness for Women During a Crisis. We believe it is imperative to maintain healthy mind and body particularly during this health pandemic. The presenter was Dr. Mary Lou Frank, a licensed psychologist and mediator. She also has a Ph.D. and M.S. in Psychology as well as M.Ed. in Counseling and B.A. in Speech Communication. Dr. Frank was the lead team member in developing this interactive workshop. Building excitement about our programs we believe is one of the key to success. We therefore spend time to develop unique ways to inspire individuals to attend and participate in our events. As an example, the introduction used to inspire women to register for the Summit read: “We are all living in one of the most difficult times in the last century; watching as the world struggle to find footing and a way forward. Women leaders have shown a path that has protected both the health and economy of their township/state/nation and they inspire and empower the potential in us. We can learn from them and from each other. As women, by being aware of who we are, what we bring, and how we can help each other, we can make a world of difference for ourselves and our communities.” The Summit was a great success; more than 200 participants joined the workshop. IWTT’s Distinguished Scholars Series partners with distinguished scholars, speakers and organizations to focus on intimate discussions with national and international experts who articulate the status of women and girls internationally. Individuals from academia, corporations, the community, international foundations and non-profit organizations come together to review and participate in discussions on important causes, such as women in leadership, education, economic security and health. Distinguished Scholars included Colonel Jennifer Buckner, Cyber Commandant, U.S. Army Cyber School, and topics Women as the Emerging Market and Health and Wellness. Participants will walk away with specific actions they can take back to their institutions to expand awareness of women’s issues and effect change. IWTT supports and work with female farmers and coop-op development. We are promoting the collaboration of a tea company with a bee farmer to co-brand which will increase sales and supply distribution for both companies. Dr. Girish K. Panicker is an agronomist and authority on C-factor (cover and management) and is an internationally renowned agricultural scientist known for his work in Blueberry, Muscadine grapes and Melon research. He serves on IWTT’s board of directors in support of the women in agriculture programs. He provides literature, crop cuttings, seeds and workshops to the community. Dr. Panicker is a bridge between the scientific and agricultural communities. Girls Let’s Build (STEM) was developed by IWTT to encourage and empower young girls ages 4-8 to explore the wonders of STEM. It was a summer program each session was one week and was designed with hands on, interactive activities to engage curiosity, interests and solutions to problems. Addressing the scourge of human trafficking is of major concern to IWTT and we are in collaboration with several organizations to further the awareness to this issue. We are honored to have as a collaborative partner, HRH Princess Deun Ogunlana. Princess Ogunlana is President of the Global Summit Group which is a participating member of the UN Global Compact Office. Working with Princess Ogunlana and a planning committee of women from several organizations we are working to promote the Women Economic Principles throughout our various networks, with a goal of strengthening multi-sector partnerships and working as a collective to address and solve issues of women and girls.
