Mission Statement
Moja Tu is a 501 (C)(3) nonprofit organization founded in January 2013. Our mission is to provide the foundation of an education to children in need in developing countries. We believe that education is key to helping those in need to have an opportunity to change their lives as well as those in their communities. We believe that education is the critical factor in determining a child’s success in life. It’s a steppingstone to provide opportunities for job creation, community development and ending the cycle of poverty.
About This Cause
Moja Tu believes that education is the a critical factor in determining a child’s success in life. It’s a stepping stone and foundation to provide opportunities for job creation, providing for their families and moving out of poverty. In many developing countries, education is not freely available to all. Many children who by no fault of their own are either orphans or in such a financial bind due to their family situation that they are unable to attend school. Moja Tu is focused on providing children who have financial need an opportunity to get an education to primary and secondary school. Whether they need financial support to pay for the school fees, uniforms and shoes, books and supplies or housing/food. Our work is been focused in Kenya thus far, but as we continue to grow and expand as an organization we will be providing these support to children in other developing countries as we start establishing our partner network. In Kenya, we have a partner organization Tania Integrated Rehabilitation Centre, which is an orphanage that provides for children with a diverse need ranging from: girls who were married off at 10-11 years of age and have been brought by social works, young girls who’ve been disowned by family due to refusal to be victims of FGM, children with special needs as well as orphans. A high percentage of the children at Tania are there as a result of both parents dying of HIV.
