Mission Statement
The mission of Education Matters is to advance the cause of academic excellence and enrichment through the promotion and/or organization of workshops, conferences, and seminars; producing its weekly radio and television broadcasts; and through operating its after school reading and resource center for students and parents.
About This Cause
Education Matters received its 501-c3 designation in 2014. In addition to the summary above, Education Matters believes anything that provides knowledge is education. Therefore, each weekly radio and television broadcast covers a plethora of topics to include academia, finances and money management, health and wellness, building the family, etc. Furthermore, Education Matters chooses to be part of the literacy solution by operating a reading and resource center to help bring struggling 1st through 8th graders up to proficient levels of reading and writing in addition to providing homework/tutoring assistance. Children are also fed and taught life skills. Parents are also provided or connected to educational and developmental resources. Our annual "Are You Ready to be Grown" conference attracts nearly 300 students and parents, which is aimed at helping students understand the importance of education and how their choices directly connect to their adult lifestyles. Parents learned how home environments play a factor in a child's development. Parents also received parental skills development, financial management advice, and how to take advantage of community resources. Education Matters believes Learning Is Living and miraculously accomplishes its mission on a modest budget.
