Mission Statement
Let's Smile, Inc. is dedicated to raising awareness of the essential connection between oral health and overall well-being. Through comprehensive dental care, education, and community collaboration, we equip children and teens with the knowledge and resources to prioritize their oral health. By advocating for preventive dental care and providing comprehensive follow-up treatments, we strive to ensure every child and teen receives the necessary dental care to thrive.
About This Cause
Let's Smile, Inc. is a 501(c)3 organization that has been operating in Steele County since January 2013. We engage with children and communities through our in-person "Pep Rallies" and community events, as well as our "Molar Roller" mobile clinics that provide dental services within schools. Our team of "Smile Fairies" inspires children to prioritize oral health by providing them with the tools and resources necessary to maintain good oral hygiene at home, thereby promoting equitable solutions to reduce health disparities. In addition to education, Let's Smile, Inc. is committed to increasing access to quality dental care services in southeastern Minnesota for low-income, underserved children and teens covered by Minnesota Health Care Plans (MHCP) such as MA, South Country Health Alliance, Blue Plus, UCare, or uninsured. Our services directly align with the Minnesota Child and Teen Dental Checkup standards, and we strive to make a sustainable impact on the health of our communities. Let's Smile, Inc. has established partnerships and collaborations with Community Pathways to offer a community-based dental clinic in a co-located building with other non-profit organizations. We also operate mobile outreach programs in various school settings, including Head Start preschools, public elementary and secondary schools, and charter schools throughout southeastern Minnesota. Let’s Smile, Inc. provides low-income, underserved children in southeastern Minnesota access to quality comprehensive dental care, at no cost to financially struggling families. The consequences of going without preventive dental care can have a lifelong impact on school performance, employability, and life readiness. Oral diseases are progressive and cumulative in nature if left untreated, causing pain, missed school days, complications with other health issues, and emergency room expenditures. To address this need, Let’s Smile, Inc. offers a community-based clinic and outreach programs to provide critical dental services to children and teens that otherwise would not have access to oral health care. Our unique portable dental clinic enables us to set up school-based outreach to eliminate access barriers, enabling parents to avoid arranging transportation, taking time off work, and having their children miss a majority of a valuable school day. Let’s Smile, Inc. is making dental care more accessible to children in southeastern Minnesota communities of Owatonna, Blooming Prairie, Ellendale, New Richland, Waseca, Janesville, LaCrescent, Lanesboro, St. Charles, and Winona by transporting all the equipment and supplies needed to set up school-based dental clinics to their Head Start preschools, elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, alternative learning centers, and charter schools. We are strengthening communities by helping reduce inequities across racial, ethnic and socioeconomic groups. We receive an average of 30 calls per month from people who carry Medicaid searching for a dental provider that accepts their insurance, emphasizing the need for our services. Let's Smile, Inc. stays connected with the community through our website, social media, and community events. This enables us to receive feedback and suggestions from the community and to incorporate these into program planning and implementation.
