About This Cause
Serving the Americas Foundation, the U.S. branch of international charitable organization America Solidaria, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with an extensive network throughout the Americas focusing on underserved and disadvantaged communities. Founded in Santiago, Chile in 2002 to promote professional volunteer engagement in the Americas, America Solidaria has developed more than 330 projects with 87 non-profit organizations, making a positive impact within local communities in 13 countries. Every year, more than 33,000 people in the Americas benefit from our collective efforts partnering with companies, governments, multilateral organizations, and local community stakeholders. As one of the very few Latin American-based non-profit organizations that alleviates poverty outside its borders, America Solidaria deeply understands the cultural context of the region through its network of regional partners, local development projects, and professional volunteers from the region. Our model allows America Solidaria to identify the pressing needs of the communities we serve in collaboration with local non-profit organizations. We design and implement high-impact programs, placing skilled volunteers to contribute to the identified projects, typically focused on providing advancement opportunities for children, youth, and families living in poverty. By emphasizing volunteer engagements with local non-profits, we benefit the most vulnerable communities in the Americas and build capacity among our partner organizations. Furthermore, we provide valuable experience to future global leaders, empowering our volunteers to address hemispheric development issues, to improve governance within civil society, and to strengthen bonds.
