Develop exciting youth programs. Bring Opera to everyone. Establish a dialogue with our audience. Take risks. Our final goal is to offer innovative and out-of-the-box projects, which will engage a large and diverse community with us.
About This Cause
Ars Minerva is a new performing-arts non-profit organization based in San Francisco. Our ambition is to become a new artistic heart for the city and an unremitting World Premieres developer, by revealing forgotten musical masterpieces, as well as contemporary creations. Our vocation is to introduce new ways to engage with artistic events, but also to pioneer playful solutions to bring new audiences to performances. We aim to create activities able to connect the community to the arts and satisfy audiences’ demands, by offering artistic excellence, interaction between arts, and projects able to reach diverse people. We also believe in the power of youth. Combining experienced artists and young people, in order to create and present shows based on creativity and imagination, culminating in a unique experience unavailable in just any other venue. Our Carnival Series, launched in March 2015, revived La Cleopatra, a Venetian Opera created for the 1662 Carnival and never played since. We are now preparing our next production, The Amazons in the Fortunate Isles, an opera created in 1679, also a Modern World Premiere. This opera composed by Carlo Pallavicino takes place in the legendary Fortunates Isles located in the Atlantic Ocean, variously treated as a simple geographical location and as a winterless earthly paradise inhabited by the heroes of Greek mythology. After their defeat against the Greeks at the battle of Thermodon, the Amazons migrated to the Fortunate Isles, but one day, a moorish corsair shipwrecked on the shore...
