Mission Statement
Todos Juntos Learning Center supports the academic and social well-being of immigrant and refugee families through education, empowerment, and community support.
About This Cause
Todos Juntos (All Together) Learning Center improves the future of Central Texas by opening the door to academic and economic success for under-resourced families through education. We help working families who are immigrants or refugees lift themselves from generational poverty through dual-language early childhood education, adult English as a Second Language classes, parenting education, health focused services, and peer networks of support. Our vision is a community of young children who have the skills to be successful in school and adults who have the skills to join the workforce, engage in their community, and support their children in school and in life. Brief Description: Todos Juntos Learning Center was created in 2009 by and for immigrant women who seek to learn English and want their young children close by learning English, too. By centering the needs of immigrant families, we are a trusted source of information, resources, and relationships for immigrants and refugees. Agency Services Todos Juntos provides four programs to Central Texas immigrants and refugees: 1. Early childhood education – Our evidenced-based curriculum, focused on family learning and literacy, helps prepare young children for kindergarten. Our teachers receive at least 30 hours of professional development annually. 2. Adult education - For mothers, a barrier to learning English is a lack of childcare. Mothers attend class down the hall from their children. Austin Community College instructors teach five distinct levels of ESL. That means adults get the right level of instruction and can chart their progress. Some students enter ACC to pursue GED certification or other coursework. 3. Mi Familia & Me - This culturally relevant evidence-based class empowers parents to build solid educational and social foundations for their children. During the weekly class, parents learn about their child’s development and engage in literacy and music activities while providing peer-to-peer support. This program also oversees our Pilot Program, Adelante Juntos, a new adult internship program that trains and places our parents in paid internships to further build their skills and language proficiency. 4. Saludables Juntos - Our newly expanded health and wellness program builds on support we provided during the pandemic by offering health information, case management, basic needs support, and access to mental health care through a partnership with YWCA. This program also oversees our water safety programming, family camping excursions, and team of Poderosas which is a group of TJ mothers who serve as community ambassadors.
