Mission Statement

Our mission is to empower the vulnerable and orphaned girl child through educational and skills development, career enhancement, health education and community child protection programs.

About This Cause

Concern for the Girl Child North America was founded in 2013 to fund programs that empower orphaned and vulnerable girls by providing support in Secondary school and Tertiary education (vocational school, university). CGCNA is overseen by an all volunteer Board and has no paid employees. CCGNA supports programs managed by Concern for the Girl Child Uganda. CGC Uganda was founded in 2000 and has supported over 800 orphaned and vulnerable girls. CGC programs can be reviewed by visiting www.concernforgirlchild.or.ug These are integrated programs that provide educational opportunities to orphaned girls living in marginal situations where problems of early marriage, child labor, child and gender abuse, etc are rampant. By providing educational opportunities to orphaned girls living in these communities CGC not only changes the lives of these girls but of the communities. By educating the communities about the importance of education, health, child protection, etc the entire population in these communities are positively impacted. CGC also through capital improvement projects has markedly improved the schools that the CGC girls attend ( 4 high schools in 4 sub-counties of Uganda). In partnership with donors CGC has also provided clean water to thousands of children and their families by providing boreholes at primary schools in the 4 sub-counties where CGC operates. The core program areas are education, psychosocial support, child protection, health support and economic strengthening
