Mission Statement

No Kill Pima County is a grass roots, community group of committed individuals dedicated to saving the healthy, treatable and re-habitable homeless pets and feral cats in Pima County.

About This Cause

No Kill Pima County is working to build and sustain a community that saves the savable pets of Tucson and Pima County< AZ through the rigorous implementation of the No Kill Equation. The Equation consists of 10 programs and services that when implemented thoroughly and led by a compassionate, determined leader will result in a shelter that saves the savable. NKPC believes it takes the commitment of the County, Pima Animal Care Center, The Humane Society of Southern Arizona and the community to achieve a No Kill Pima County. None of the above entities could do this without the full participation of the others. NKPC is identifies the gaps in the services and programs offered at the shelters within the county, as well as community resources available to meet the needs of the public, and advocaes for change through public awareness and direct support. Our organization started the S.O.S. Help Desk at the county shelter intake door in 2014 and in 2017 the County Shelter began their own diversion services. NKPC continues diversion work through our online resource directory for pet owners: Support Options and Solutions to keep animals out of shelters, and providing financial assistant for diagnostics and treatment of pets that might not otherwise get that care and/or would have to be surrendered. When we began our efforts in 2012 the county shelter had a 48% save rate and now it is over 90%. Pima County is on a path to become No Kill.
