There are thousands of children undergoing intensive medical treatment in children's hospitals across the country. Project Pinball Charity Group, Inc. wants to help ease their pain and speed up their recovery by giving them a reason to get out of bed, to socialize, and have fun by playing an iconic American pastime... Pinball!
About This Cause
Project Pinball Charity is committed to providing and maintaining high quality, therapeutic distractions to childhood patients in children's hospitals across the nation. We currently have 13 machines placed in as many cities from South Florida, to Boston and New Jersey, across to San Francisco, and many in between. Project Pinball is slated to dedicate 4 more machines in hospitals in the months of July & August 2015 - as our goal is to reach every children's hospital in the United States. “We bring joy to children’s lives through active play," says Daniel Spolar, Project Pinball Charity’s founder and Senior Director, "allowing the smallest patients the opportunity to focus on something other than hospital life.” Jamie Whipple, Child Life Specialist at Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital has this to say about their newly placed machine, “Not only does it provide an escape - even if just momentarily - from the severity of the medical environment, but it also fosters bonding between parent and child when played together. From a child life specialist stand point, I might recommend a kiddo to go check it out to help motivate them to ambulate or get out of the room for a change of environment. It is a good ploy for convincing our school-age children to check out the playroom!” Partnering with Project Pinball Charity Group is a win-win for hospitals and patients. These machines are serviced, maintained, and kept in top working order by Project Pinball volunteers, allowing the hospital to provide therapeutic relief to their patients with no cost to the hospital or those patients. MISSION: Project Pinball Charity Group, Inc. is dedicated to providing recreational relief to our small patients and their families as well as the physicians and nurses who care for them at our local Children’s Hospitals. A pinball machine is a powerful instrument that offers therapeutic benefits which fits perfectly with the dynamics of a hospital environment. It helps keep patients active and mobile while also providing amusement. We provide all the equipment, parts, supplies and the regular maintenance at no cost to the Children’s Hospital. We arefinding out with every visit and every testimony how powerful one pinball machine in the right setting can be!
