About This Cause
Precious Little Ladies Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending child sexual abuse and gender-based violence by educating communities on prevention, strengthening family bonds, supporting survivors, and exposing predators. Our programs are specifically tailored to improve mental health and enhance public safety, empowering individuals and families to achieve holistic wellness and success. PLL's current programs and services include: -"Girl, We've Got You Covered!": Provides personal care items to women escaping abuse. This program also supplies diapers, toys, and food to women with children fleeing abuse. -PLL Survivor Support Group: A community group to manage residual trauma and PTSD associated with sexual abuse, domestic violence, and emotional abuse. Participants learn mental healthcare techniques and access free talk therapy through PLLxBetter Help. -PLL Safe Space Tent: Pitched for mental health breaks at local fairs and events. -PLL Awareness Raising Kite (ARK) Flight: An event that brings families together to empower and educate them on child sexual abuse and gender-based violence prevention. We provide free kites and an environment that fosters education, physical activity, and activism. Attendees access local resources and support services via local government, law enforcement, and community organizations. -PLL Family Empowerment Fair: This event connects parents and children with local resources and provides incentivized on-location classes on sexual abuse prevention, social media etiquette, and self-defense. -Mommies Protect Your Daughters Workshop: Confidence-building lectures and activities that educate mothers and daughters on open communication, healing from trauma, dating safety, sexual consent, and mental health. -“You Know Now” PSAs: Digital media public service announcements that raise public awareness on abuse prevalence, causes, and prevention. - Mother-Daughter PLL Self-Defense Classes: Street smart self-defense classes for mother-daughter groups. - #ItsOkToTellDay Tablet Giveaway Survey: An incentivized survey on family needs and availability of services. - PLL Youth Ambassador Program: Engages teens and young adults by teaching them abuse prevention and encouraging them to educate and raise awareness among their peers. Our intended beneficiaries are individuals and families within our community who are vulnerable to child sexual abuse, incestuous abuse, and gender-based violence. By focusing on mental health and public safety, we aim to address the needs of these groups, fostering resilience and empowerment. The expected results of our programs include increased awareness and understanding of abuse prevention, stronger family relationships, and improved mental and physical health for participants. We anticipate a decrease in the incidence of child sexual abuse and gender-based violence and an increase in the number of survivors receiving support. Statistics show that child sexual abuse and gender-based violence are pervasive issues, particularly in low-income communities. According to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, one in four girls and one in six boys will be sexually abused before they turn 18. Additionally, research indicates that children from low-income families are at higher risk of abuse and exploitation due to factors such as stress, lack of resources, and unstable living conditions. The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence reports that women in low-income households experience higher rates of domestic violence compared to those in higher-income households. These alarming statistics underscore the urgent need for our services in communities where vulnerability is heightened by economic challenges.
