Mission Statement
The mission of BWJP is to promote change within the civil and criminal legal systems to enhance their effectiveness in providing safety, security, and justice for survivors of gender-based violence, their families, and their communities.
About This Cause
BWJP is the national industry leader at the intersection of gender-based violence and legal systems. A collection of national policy and practice centers, BWJP consults with and trains advocates, nonprofit service providers, community leaders, and systems professionals to change the trajectory of all legal systems. It is no longer enough to help change the lives of individual people. We must work to improve access to systems while understanding their limits. Furthermore, we must pay close attention to not cause further harm and injustice to historically marginalized communities that are often forced into these systems. We will continue this critical work: to inform and keep survivors safe, to build the capacity of advocates and systems professionals, and finally, to strategically inject “justice” into the “justice systems.”
