Mission Statement

To inspire hope, facilitate healing, and guide bereaved children and adults in rebuilding a meaningful life intertwined with their grief.

About This Cause

Our vision is that every grieving adult, child and family, will never suffer alone in silence and will find hope, healing and renewed happiness. Richard Lambert Foundation's visionary initiative stems from the personal journey of Susan and Jaime Chavez, whose 26-year-old son, Richard, died on September 4, 2012. The formation of the Richard Lambert Foundation (RLF) was born from our experience, shedding light on the critical need for accessible grief counseling and support services. As a grassroots organization, we began services in March of 2014. With unwavering support from the local community, RLF celebrated ten years of service in 2024 and has been recognized for its exceptional services and care for our community members. The organization was honored as the Brighton Chamber of Commerce Community Organization of the Year in 2015 and 2020 and received the prestigious titles of Colorado Community Media's Best Local Nonprofit - Brighton in 2023 and 2024 and Best Mental Health - Brighton in 2024. RLF offers accessible and affordable one-on-one grief counseling services, both in-person and through telehealth to individuals aged five and older. At RLF, we specialize in providing personalized care to equip individuals with the necessary tools, support, and understanding to navigate the intricate and painful terrain of grief. Our distinguished team of professionals at RLF strengthens our capacity to deliver effective grief support. Our therapists undergo specialized training in grief, death, and dying, backed by years of experience in addressing grief and loss. They play a pivotal role in discerning between normal grief reactions and potential clinical conditions like depression, providing tailored assistance across all facets of the grieving process. With a commitment to accessibility and inclusivity, we offer a sliding fee scale, starting at $10. This approach fosters affordability, ensuring that crucial support remains within reach for individuals grappling with loss during challenging times. By reducing financial barriers, our affordable counseling contributes to improved mental health outcomes and overall well-being in the community, lessening the strain on those already contending with financial and emotional burdens. At RLF, our affordable care empowers individuals to prioritize their healing journey without the added stress of unmanageable fees. Additionally, RLF offers complimentary monthly support programs, designed to confront the distinctive challenges associated with child loss, spouse/partner loss, and coping with the aftermath of suicide loss to anyone aged 18 and older. These groups serve as invaluable sanctuaries, fostering emotional support, expert guidance, and educational elements, all under the care of RLF therapists. At RLF, we understand that grief is a profound human experience, often lasting a lifetime. It doesn't adhere to a set timeline, and its impact can persist over the years, resurfacing during significant life events or anniversaries. Recognizing the lifelong nature of grief underscores the importance of ongoing, accessible services to provide solace and guidance to those who need it. Adjusting to a life that no longer includes the presence of a loved one is truly a brutal and exhausting journey. Bereaved often seek assistance and support from various sources over an extended period to find some sense of "relief" from intense grief. Enhancing our telehealth capabilities, offering a sliding fee scale, and having no limit on sessions, ensures that community members who cannot attend in-person sessions due to geographic, physical, or financial constraints can access affordable grief counseling and support. These initiatives provide immediate assistance to those in need and create long-term opportunities for individuals to build meaningful lives around their grief. Our comprehensive services consistently address the varied needs of grieving community members, enabling them to thrive by living and not merely existing. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about your organization and its services.
