Mission Statement

The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Foundation exists for the historic preservation of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Richmond, Virginia, maintaining and restoring the building and educating visitors about the value of such efforts.

About This Cause

Anne Kenny-Urban, Executive Director of Agecroft Hall, currently chairs the volunteer Board of 12 members who meet bi-monthly. The Board consists of members from the fields of preservation, non-profits, law, finance, marketing, and other related areas. The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart is the seat of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond, and a historic landmark listed on the State and National Register of Historic Places. It serves as an active cultural and community-gathering place in the tradition of cathedrals since the Middle Ages, offering a place for sanctuary, music, art, festivals, and other events. Dedicated in 1906, the Cathedral is celebrating 110 years of public service.
