Mission Statement
The AMERICAN CELLO INSTITUTE'S (ACI) purpose is to promote string performance and pedagogical ideals. In addition to scholarly pursuits ACI operates within a larger, more universal perspective by participating in the responsibility of creating a better world through its major project, the International Chamber Orchestra of Puerto Rico (ICOPR).
About This Cause
The International Chamber Orchestra of Puerto Rico (ICOPR) connects children and communities in underserved areas of Puerto Rico with music, the orchestra, and world-renowned artists. Artists from diverse nationalities and Puerto Rico converge on the island in educational broadcasts, free concerts and outreach events for communities throughout the island. ICOPR’s Young Artist Fellowship program invites talented young musicians to perform side-by-side professionals, gaining experience and learning to use music as a tool for social change. The ICOPR is a project of the American Cello Institute, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, a National Endowment for the Arts award winning organization and a recipient of Guidestar's Platinum Seal of Transparency.
