SAVING A HEROS PLACE

Mission Statement

In 2013, three San Antonio Police Officers and a police wife, traveled thousands of miles to honor fallen MIT Police Officer Sean Collier, who was killed by the Boston bombers. Due to that experience, they founded a non-profit organization, Saving A Hero's Place. Saving A Hero’s Place, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is committed to honoring the memories of law enforcement officers and firefighters who have fallen in the performance of their duty by providing their department with a permanent place of reverence for their fallen hero: the honor chair.

About This Cause

The mission of Saving A Hero’s Place, Inc., is to make sure our fallen First Responders are never forgotten. We do this by building wood honor chairs and donating them to agencies across the country. In 2013, MIT Officer Sean Collier was killed in the line of duty by the Boston bombers. Unable to sleep at home or concentrate at work, I got together with fellow officers and we decided to offer the MIT Police Department an Honor Chair to save the place of their fallen hero. In roll call/briefing rooms across the country, Police Officers sit in the same chair before every shift. When an officer makes the ultimate sacrifice, we want to make sure their legacy lives on and their place is forever saved at their agency. By building an honor chair that is personalized for the individual officer, fellow shift mates will always know that the officer is with them as they head out to protect their communities. After donating an honor chair to the MIT Police Department and seeing how much it meant to them, we decided to get together and continue to build the chairs. We founded Saving A Hero’s Place, Inc. in October of 2013. We have since donated over 270 chairs across the country.
