Mission Statement
Humanist Mutual Aid Network (HuMAN) formerly called Humanist Global Charity (HGC) supports secular (non-religious) education, medical care, and entrepreneurship, primarily in Nepal, Chad, Liberia, Ghana, Mozambique, Nigeria, India, Myanmar, The Philippines. In India and Nepal we have delivered sanitary pads to rural women and girls, and we provide free self-defense classes. We also sponsor a Rationalism Library in a village in Uttar Pradesh. In The Philippines we provide funding to plant purple yam (ube) and avocados, for the Aeta indigenous people. In Brazil we provide startup funds, mostly to single mothers who live in the slums. In Uganda we fund orphans; in Nigeria we fund refugee widows whose husbands were killed by Boko Haram
About This Cause
Humanist Mutual Aid Network (HuMAN) formerly called Humanist Global Charity (HGC) is a non-profit organization that builds secular orphanages, schools, medical clinics, and safe houses (for battered women and children) in Subsaharan Africa (Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Cameroon) and South Asia (India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Pakistan) and to Romani communities in North Macedonia, Kosovo, and Serbia. We also provide startup funds for sustainable projects to women's collectives, plus orphan sponsorships (so children can remain in school) plus funding for operations like fistula, clubfoot, and cleft palate. We built the "world's first atheist orphanage" (BiZoHa, in Muhokya, Uganda, in 2015). We established the first "Safe House" for people leaving religion, in Nigeria (KaZoHa in Abuja, in 2019). We built 4 secular schools, two orphanages, and we established 16 clinics. Our 2021 focus is to help rural girls in Nepal, by providing them with sanitary pads and school supplies so they can stay in school and not become victims of sex trafficking. We fund school tuition for orphans, poor children, and impoverished college students; we support girls equality, birth control, and sex education; we provide nutritious food; we give students shoes, AFRIpads, books; we aid teachers with salary stipends and educational materials; we support secular Africans with "humanist entrepreneur grants" for projects like chicken farms, peanut farms, sewing collectives, motorcycle rentals; we enable access to fresh water; we publish free e-books on leaving religion, critical thinking, etc.
