Mission Statement
The Children's Partnership (TCP) envisions a world where all children -- regardless of race, ethnicity or place of birth -- have the resources they need to grow up healthy and thrive, and its mission is to advance this vision of child health equity through research, policy and community engagement.
About This Cause
In 1993, TCP was founded in response to the major policy shifts that ignored the needs of children and the imminent need for a group to set a children’s agenda on emerging issues. Today, such foresight and innovation define our approach and remain drivers in determining TCP priorities for where to make the most impact for children who have been historically underserved by our institutions and systems: specifically, children of color in our state. For more than 25 years, TCP has been a leading voice for children and a critical partner to communities across California and the nation. Our Whole Child approach considers a child’s full range of needs and supports them, their families, and their communities. Through uplifting community-led initiatives, public-private partnerships, and community-informed data, we build support for the development and implementation of long-term strategies that address the needs of California’s children, especially those who are low-income, children of color, and children in immigrant families. We model a cross-sector, partnership-driven approach that centers community input and seeks to empower families to advocate for their children’s health and well-being.
