To build a sense of community, independence and empowerment for adults with differing abilities through connection, meaningful experiences, spiritual growth, and a place to call their own.
About This Cause
Adults with intellectual disabilities crave the same freedom as you and I. Southwind Fields is a non-profit organization founded on providing adults with learning differences with the support they need to live as independently as possible within the San Antonio community. Our “Locals” come from across the nation to experience the growth and possibilities that accompany living in a supported-independence environment, surrounded by their peers. Others attend our Local Society, Monday through Thursday, where they receive skill building training in an enriching environment, with the purpose of cultivating their independence for the future. Together, we strive to build a self-sustaining, all-inclusive tiny home community where our Locals can both work and live. Creating community, fostering independence, honoring unique gifts, and cultivating character. That’s the Southwind Fields way.
