Mission Statement
Wayzata Walleye Youth Baseball (WWYB) supports educational opportunities within the sport of youth baseball. WWYB Primarily helps kids experience a once-in-a-lifetime baseball camp experience in upstate New York at Cooperstown Dreams Park (CDP). While playing in a 104 team tournament, the kids learn independent living skills while staying in the camp barracks with their teammates and coaches. The experience also allows the kids to develop their social skills while interacting with players and coaches from 103 other teams from across the United States and Canada in the camp barracks complex. The experience is capped off with a team trip to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY where the kids are exposed to the rich history of America's greatest past-time - BASEBALL!
About This Cause
WWYB seeks donations and sponsorship from organizations and individuals who appreciate that baseball is much more than just a game. It's a way for youth to learn how to cope with the challenges of everyday real life. Although Baseball, by it's nature, is a game of failure, it also provides second chances for a kid to succeed! WWYB seeks opportunities for youth to gain education through the sport of baseball. In addition to room and board fees for the camp, each team has travel, umpire and equipment costs. WWYB supports the strategical efforts to get 36 Minnesota kids, their coaches and their families to upstate New York and it works with team coaches and representatives to support the financial efforts of the teams to offset the extraordinary costs of the CDP experience. WWYB is working on programming to better expand educational opportunities for kids through the game of baseball and looks forward to the day when additional educational opportunities beyond the CDP experience can be offered to kids.
