Mission Statement
Trailhead's mission is to accelerate the creation, development, and scaling of new business ventures. Trailhead is a startup incubator and coworking space committed to equitable and healthy economic development.
About This Cause
Founded in 2015 by a handful of entrepreneurs and the City of Boise, Trailhead is a startup incubator and coworking space committed to equitable and healthy economic development. Trailhead members benefit from each other as well as our network of private industry partners, angel investors, and venture capitalists. We provide the growing startup community a place to land, connect, find resources, and grow their ideas into tomorrow’s businesses. In the last few years, members like Partner Hero, Killer Creamery, SWYM, Lovevery, Natural Intelligence, and many others started from ideas and grew into viable businesses, ultimately outgrowing our facilities. These startups secure millions of dollars in funding, attract top talent, and contribute to a vibrant ecosystem in Boise. As an entrepreneurial support center, we work with lifestyle businesses that make a huge impact on our ecosystem by creating innovative products and jobs. For Example: Recall InfoLink, founded by Roger Hancock, provides product recall software to manufacturers, distributors, and retailers. Roger is an active member of our community and goes out of his way to help and mentor newcomers at Trailhead. In addition to hosting monthly events, Trailhead also organizes large scale events that reach beyond our immediate ecosystem. Boise Startup Week (BSW) is Idaho’s largest event focused on entrepreneurship with over 60 local partner organizations and an army of volunteers. Events include workshops, pitch competitions, panel discussions, networking opportunities, and prime time keynotes. BSW continues to grow significantly and in 2019 hosted over 2,600 attendees, more than 120 events spread over eight distinct tracks, and two pitch competitions - all delivered in six days. Trailmix gathers dozens of food and beverage startups to showcase their work and compete for prize money. In 2019 the Trailmix winner, Orchestra Provisions, won $20,000 in cash, shelf space at Albertsons Broadway Store, and a two-day immersion experience at Chobani Global Innovation Center in Twin Falls. WiSE24 is a global, virtual, pitch competition for women entrepreneurs in the tech industry. In 2019, Trailhead hosted three female entrepreneurs who pitched to an audience of over 1,500 with the majority being investors. Idahoans have a strong entrepreneurial spirit and develop amazing ideas from all corners of the state. Boise Startup Week and other Trailhead programs are hosted in Boise, but a recent partnership with Idaho National Laboratory (INL) will allow us to expand our reach to Eastern Idaho. Trailhead East @ Idaho National Lab is a new incubator program aimed at helping entrepreneurial researchers at INL turn their ideas into profitable businesses. Trailhead East cohort participants will have the unique opportunity to utilize INL’s technologies and resources while leveraging Tralihead’s community in commercializing intellectual property. The new cohort in Idaho Falls will be launched in early 2020. Trailhead is an entrepreneurial support center. We are here to serve people and help turn ideas into products and businesses.
