Mission Statement
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Galveston County is to provide trained community volunteers who advocate for the best interest of abused and neglected children, in the foster care system, in an effort to secure safety and permanency while increasing child abuse awareness
About This Cause
CASA of Galveston County recruits, screens, and trains community members who are professional supervised and appointed by a family court judge to serve as the guardian ad litem for abused and neglected children who are removed from their homes and enter the child welfare system. A CASA volunteer walks alongside these vulnerable children as they navigate the child welfare system that relocates them many times from everything familiar. These children are trauma victims and misunderstood. A CASA ensures that they receive the interventions and services to increase the social and emotional healing and access to the least restrictive learning environment. A CASA is an extra set of eyes in the community to bring best interest recommendations back to the court.
