Mission Statement
Touch Link exists to support, Empower and Uplift the victims and survivors of domestic violence. Touch Link is a non-profit organization committed to providing emotional and directional support for victims of domestic violence. We aim to create a community without violence, assault, abuse or battering through our mission and programs
About This Cause
Touching Lives, Restoring Hope Founded in 2014, Touch Link touches the lives of domestic violence survivors by helping to restore hope, dignity and security. From a 24/7 hotline, to advocacy, to case management, we provide direction, referrals and support towards beginning the healing process. A key component of our model is that we maintain relationships with clients beyond their time of crisis, helping them to return to a life of dignity, productivity and self-respect. Our mission is to provide affected men, women and children with support through crisis management; and intervention and referral services. Our primary objectives are to empower women to be restored to a place of hope and optimism; increase survivors’ likelihood to create safe, healthy and successful futures for themselves and their children; and to decrease the stigma and prevalence of domestic violence through community and survivor education. Each family we serve is met with warmth, guidance, support and a Hope Tote, filled with key items to help sustain them during their crisis. Five Hundred Tokens of Hope Having a sense of hope is a strong indicator of survivor’s ability to create a brighter future. Emergency Survival Kits provide clients with emergency financial and personal care necessities, including toiletries, gift cards and winter accessories, to help renew hope and establish normalcy while they plan their next steps. They’re a small token with a big impact. By January 1, 2020, we have a goal of distributing 500 Emergency Survival Kits to our clients and to supplement the resources of our partner agencies, such as the Woodbridge Domestic Violence Response Team, that provide services to domestic violence survivors. Our catchment area includes Middlesex, Union and Monmouth counties. Nurturing the present and Looking Towards the Future Since its inception, Touch Link has existed because of generous donations and sponsorships from local businesses, members of our Board, and citizens in the community. As the needs of our client population increase and the scope of the organization expands, we recognize the need to diversify our revenue sources. However, we have an immediate need to fund Emergency Survival Kits, a staple of our service model. Concurrent with seeking funding for Emergency Survival Kits, planning is under way to welcome a full-time social worker to our team in 2020. This vital member of our staff will provide clients with case management, as well as emotional and psychological guidance. Additionally, to address New Jersey’s shortage of temporary housing, particularly for domestic violence victims, we have a long term goal of securing space to establish a shelter in Middlesex County. A Survivor Helping Survivors Touch Link’s Founder, Yewande Efodili, is a survivor of domestic violence who channels the experience she and her daughter had to support, uplift, and empower victims of domestic violence. Yewande has received training in counseling people who are experiencing stressful life situations and is a certified Inner Healing practitioner. She is also an active member of the Woodbridge Township Domestic Violence Response Team, where she is able to provide guidance to victims in imminent danger and guide them to resources immediately available to them with the support. Touch Link currently has team of four dedicated, highly qualified volunteers, including three licensed social workers and one registered nurse. Collectively they are responsible for client intake, case management and counselling. When warranted, relevant professionals are hired on a per diem basis and we also utilize interns to support our work.
