Mission Statement
Pat Mac’s Pack is a charitable organization established in memory of Patrick McNamara, who died at the age of 13 after an eleven year battle with recurrent brain tumors. The main purpose of Pat Mac’s Pack is to raise funds for pediatric brain tumor research. These funds will be used to support various projects including drug research and development, and the advancement of novel surgical procedures used to treat pediatric brain tumors. The organization also provides funds to assist young cancer patients and their families. In addition, our foundation works to raise awareness about the devastation of this disease.
About This Cause
Since our establishment in 2014, Pat Mac’s Pack has raised more than $875,000 to contribute to the fight against pediatric brain cancer, and supported dozens of families in the Chicagoland area. In 2019, we donated $200,000 to the Brain Tumor Research Fund at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. In 2018, we donated $175,000 to the Brain Tumor Research Fund at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. In 2017, we donated $125,000 to the Brain Tumor Research Fund at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. One of our top priorities is funding the cutting edge research currently being conducted at Lurie’s Children's Hospital by Dr. Stewart Goldman and the entire brain tumor research team. We also contribute funding for educational support programs for survivors at Lurie’s to provide young survivors the support they need to go on with their lives and complete school, find a job, or live independently. Pat Mac's Pack also donates funds directly to numerous families in the Chicagoland area with a child battling pediatric brain cancer. When you find out your child has cancer, life as you know it stops. Treating and hopefully curing your child becomes your sole focus. Jobs and bills take a back seat but never go away. Plus, a battle with cancer comes with myriad financial costs — above and beyond hospital and medical bills. We provide modest financial support to families to help reduce the burden of travel, parking, lodging and other costs associated with numerous visits to and stays in the hospital.
