About This Cause
Dompet Dhuafa USA provides educational program through its Daya Center, a community learning center in South Philadelphia, PA. The Center has provided courses, workshops, and seminars for diverse communities: A. Education Program 1. Islamic Education Program Our Islamic Saturday School teaches Islamic Studies, Arabic, and Qur’an Memorization. Currently this school has about forty students who come from diverse communities in South Philadelphia, such as Algerian, Lebanese, Indonesian, Malaysian, and Burmese. The School is open Saturdays from 10.30am to 12.30pm. 2. Muslim Youth Online Circle (Youth Halaqa) Our Youth Halaqa motivates American Muslim youths by inspiring them with Islamic values while contributing to the local communities. During the weekly session, participants will engage in Arabic and Islamic motivational webinars. 3. ESOL Class (Morning & Evening Class) The Center provides unique English courses for hard-working adult immigrants in South Philadelphia. Our English courses are fun , well-developed and are very convenient for working class students who are looking to balance life between adult education, family, and work. We offer two classes for our adult students: morning and evening. 4. Folk Arts Classes As an Indonesian-American Cultural House in Philadelphia, the Center strengthens folk-arts workshops and classes, such as "Angklung Goes To School Project". The main goal of the project is to introduce Indonesia through bamboo music instruments, or Angklung, to schools in the greater Philadelphia area. Along with Indonesian Embassy-Washington DC and House of Angklung, we teach multiculturalism, nature conservation, and music to public and private schools 5. Seminars, Workshops, and Community Meetings B, Community Economic Development C. Humanitarian Aid Mission 1. Disaster Relief We raise funds and distribute relief efforts in times of disaster as our solidarity to humanity. Our relief programs are for everyone regardless of nationality, ethnicity, gender, religious affiliation, or immigration status. We ensure our relief programs have significant impact for the victims of disasters. 2. Sponsor a child Not every child has an opportunity to start with zero. Millions of children start their life with minus. They deserve a strong start to get a best chance for a better future. You can help them reach their best potential and achieve their best destiny on this earth. Make a difference by giving an opportunity to these children. 3. Qurbani/Udhiya We distribute your Qurbani/Udhiya to people who rarely eat meat for their meals. In some countries, meat is expensive so not everyone can eat it. We provide high quality livestock animals for your Qurbani/Udhiya and send them to impoverished communities. Share your gratitude and happiness in Ied Al-Adha by providing meat for needy people around the world! 4. Aqiqah Aqiqah is an Islamic tradition of showing gratitude to the God of a newborn baby. Parents may show this gratitude by sacrificing animals (such as sheep, goats, camels), prepare meals from the meat and invite the community, including the poor to share in the joyous occasion. Show your gratitude and joy by sacrificing sheep or goats and distributing the meat to the poor! Dompet Dhuafa USA distributes your aqiqah meals to impoverished communities, disaster affected areas, and remote locations. We always ensure that we buy animals from our livestock farmers, slaughter them with sharia compliance, and cook the meat as delicious meals for people in need.
