Casa San Jose is an independent, community-based nonprofit organization that advocates for and empowers Latinos by promoting integration and self-sufficiency.
About This Cause
Casa San Jose was founded in 2013 by Sr. Janice Vanderneck and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Baden, Pa. Casa San Jose treats immigrants with dignity, respect and kindness in an effort to preserve and celebrate their unique culture while helping them adapt to life in the Pittsburgh area. Casa San Jose provides direct services to immigrants and is also active in the wider community to advocate for fair treatment and protection of immigrants’ rights. Services provided include: Information about benefits, doctors, schools and support; Information about housing, medical care, legal assistance, and family issues; Advocacy for immigrant rights and immigration reform; Assistance with applications for work or social benefits; and, Guidance from bilingual staff.
