Mission Statement
We are a non-profit pet rescue which focuses on cats, but may include dogs and/or cavies. We rescue animals from high kill shelters and the surrounding communities. We conduct Trap-Spay/Nueter-Release programs, provide information about animal safety, microchipping, and lost/found pets locally. This past year we engaged in some well-publicized rescue missions involving animals in dire predicaments and were successful in saving their lives.
About This Cause
Sierra Pacific Furbabies, Inc. was founded to reduce the numbers of euthanized shelter pets, primarily cats, which have the misfortune to be incarcerated in local high kill shelters. Located in California, USA, we have both southern and northern California divisions, each with a separate director. We are a 100% all-volunteer organization, meaning all funds go directly to rescue animal care - food, veterinary, specialized equipment, and transportation. We also Trap-Neuter-Release feral and stray cats to prevent further unwanted cats in local neighborhoods. Our rescued pets are placed in quality foster homes and sanctuaries, with the end goal being adoption into a permanent loving home. All our rescued pets are spayed/neutered, receive their basic immunizations, are tested for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped before being available for adoption. We operate at a loss because we want to make our pets available to loving homes, no matter what the income level. We do charge a minimal adoption fee because we feel free pets are often not valued as much as those for which a fee has been paid. However, we do make exceptions depending on individual situations. We offer discounts to seniors, military/veterans, and the disabled. We cannot save all the pets who end up in shelters, but we can save many, with the help of networkers, fosters, adopters and generous donors. Every life has value.
