About This Cause
Timoteo Philadelphia is an organization that uses sports as a means to mentor youth. Timoteo is located in an urban community and is led by people living in that community. Timoteo seeks to mentor youth on a personal level (building self-esteem) and socially (creating youth that function well in society). Timoteo seeks to impact the hearts of youth to bring about transformation in urban communities. Timoteo was started in Philadelphia and is led by people living in that community. Timoteo has been around since 2005 and we have created a culture where doing good is a little easier and youth are able to grow in a safe place. Timoteo is more than sports as we work with youth on an individual level helping them deal with the pressures of life. Through this work on an individual level, youth are empowered to be peer leaders on and off the field. Timoteo runs a flag football league, a basketball league and aspires to organize other leagues in other sports. We also run a summer camp that is largely led by youth coaches that are hired to run the summer camp. Through the camp they are given leadership training and support to help kids during the summer.
