Firefly Sisterhood fosters one-to-one connections between individuals diagnosed with breast cancer and inspirational survivors and thrivers that serve as their Peer Mentor Guides.
About This Cause
Firefly Sisterhood fosters meaningful connections and provides social and emotional support to individuals impacted by breast cancer, bringing light and hope to women on their journey. Research shows that a breast cancer journey becomes less daunting when women receive support from survivors who have been through similar experiences. That's why we created a unique community and mentoring program that extends a patient's support network beyond their family and medical team. Firefly Sisterhood (FFS) is a Minneapolis-based nonprofit dedicated to fostering one-to-one connections between breast cancer survivors and individuals currently facing breast cancer. Our one-to-one matching program connects breast cancer survivors and thrivers (Peer Mentor Guides) with individuals facing similar journeys. Our mentors complete a Firefly Guide training program and are dedicated to sharing their stories, and offering a listening ear, friendship, and hope. Since our founding in March 2014, we have envisioned a community where no one faces breast cancer alone. Referrals come from healthcare systems and cancer clinics throughout the Twin Cities and beyond. Our dedicated staff and volunteers, combined with our focus on thoughtful matching, foster trust and build meaningful, supportive connections. By providing this emotional support, we allow clinical staff to focus on medical treatments while we can address social and emotional needs. At Firefly Sisterhood, we believe no one should face breast cancer alone. We're here to provide support every step of the way.
