Mission Statement
The Motherless Daughters Ministry is a Christian organization dedicated to serving women who have lost or missed the nurturing care of a mother. We fulfill our mission by freeing women from the bondage of grief and loss through self-discovery, understanding how loss has shaped their lives, and by empowering them to journey towards healing themselves, and helping others.
About This Cause
The Motherless Daughters Ministry (MDM) has been serving motherless daughters internationally for over 20 years. The women we serve come from all walks of life and from all over the world. The number is hard to quantify. Some have deceased mothers. Some have living mothers. These women have many different and many similar stories. Some have lost a mother through death, some have experienced emotional absence, some have experienced mothers who have (had) narcissistic characteristics. All are motherless daughters. If we could calculate the number of women on this planet, it would give us some insight into the population of women who are or will become motherless. When a woman incurs this loss, it may take years before she is ready to work on her loss. At some point in their life, she is ready to tackle their healing journey. That is when they come to us. When women find us, they are thrilled. They often ask, “where have you been? Followed by, “I did not know you existed.” They may have never talked about their loss. It is not until they have a need to search for mother loss support that they become aware of the ministry. Many times, counselors refer to us as an adjunct to their client therapy. We work in tandem with the counselor for healing. Our population has a very niche specific type of loss, not loss from general grief. We are the only Motherless Daughters Ministry in the world. There are other motherless daughter groups, however none provide the expanse of services such as courses, support groups, blogs, and videos that we do. Our goal is help them create a balance on their journey to healing. We want them to know they are not alone. Although we are physically located in the Cincinnati, Ohio area, our reach is international. we are a virtual organization. We serve over 10,000 women from 10 different countries. Intentionally, our program registrations are limited to 6-10 women in a course or a support group. We must provide a safe environment for women to begin healing and have their voice be heard. Keeping these small in number guarantee the opportunity for discussion and questions. We validate their stories. A woman comes to the Motherless Daughters Ministry for her own healing. They know from the beginning that they are also there so that they can reach out and help others. Each woman who participates in a course or event is charged to minister to other women. Like a pebble tossed into water, the magnitude of our reach ripples until it hits the shore and then splashes up the bank to provide nourishment to others.
