Mission Statement

Our Vision; Creating lasting friendships through joyful interaction. Erin's Hope for Friends is a 501c3 that serves High Functioning Autistic Spectrum teens and young adults by operating e's club, a safe, loving place where these kids can hang out, enjoy interaction, play games, participate in organized activities and feel secure while being themselves. We have two locations, but have many interested parties around the U.S. that would like to be a charter member and open e's clubs. Our goal is to have one in every major city by 2025.

About This Cause

The Story of Erin’s Hope for Friends Darren and Stacy Horst’s 17-year-old daughter Erin was a gentle and talented girl who faced many challenges, primarily Asperger’s Syndrome. The couple lost their beloved daughter too soon, but aspire to allow Erin’s compassionate spirit to live on through charity. The Horst family founded Erin’s Hope for Friends in Erin’s loving memory to help teens struggling with Asperger’s and other High Functioning Autism Spectrum (HFAS) disorders make meaningful and lasting social connections. “If Erin had one really good friend she connected with, a friend she could do something with just one evening a week, it would have changed her whole life.” Darren Horst Erin’s Hope for Friends believes that extending kids with HFAS and Asperger’s the opportunity to form friendships can do just that—change their lives. Erin’s Hope for Friends is a non-profit 501(c)3 public charity. By making a tax-deductible gift to Erin’s Hope for Friends you will positively impact the lives of many people. Regardless of the amount, every gift is greatly appreciated and will be used to offset the initial costs and ongoing expenses of our programs. E’s Club is our primary means to help families, teens and young adults affected by Asperger’s Syndrome and other High Functioning Autism Spectrum disorders. E’s-Club For Teens & Young Adults E’s Club is a place where teens ages 12 – seniors in high school with HFAS can meet to have fun, and develop meaningful friendships in a safe and encouraging environment. We have established there is a gap, something missing in the lives of many teens and young adults who are socially-challenged. We’ve heard it from our Advisory Board, we hear it from parents and schools, but most importantly we lived it. More Than a Meeting Place: E’s Club: Creating lasting relationships through joyful interactions for high functioning autism spectrum (HFAS) teens and young adults. Open & Inviting - E’s Club features an open and inviting space where teenagers want to hang out so they can make meaningful connections and lasting friendships. Fun & Interactive - Foosball, billiards, ping-pong tables, board games, playing cards, and Xbox gaming consoles for 2 or more players all help entertain and encourage interaction. Calendar of Events - A calendar is posted in advance on our Facebook and web page. Organized Activity Schedule - Music, Karate, Art, Movie Night, Game Night, Drama, Improv, etc. Regular Social Outings - Planned around the specific interests of the group, social outings and field trips are scheduled for sports events, concerts, and outdoor activities like hiking. Activity-based Gatherings - Periodic social gatherings are planned with a new theme or major activity introduced at each event. Supervisory Staff on Hand E’s Club staff and volunteers are always on hand to provide oversight and encourage positive engagement. Nominal Participation Fee Weekly participation is a $20 member fee per evening to defray operational costs. If you are experiencing a hardship, we do have scholarship applications available upon request. E’s-Club Membership - (For teens ages 12 – seniors in high school) Is your child interested in e’s club membership? Come to a drop-in event to complete the in-take process. All teens must complete the in-take process before they can begin attending gatherings at e’s club. At drop-in you can tour the facility, fill out the in-take forms, meet e’s club personnel, and complete the in-take interview.nikitak@erinshopeforfriends.org and indicate which location you are interested in.
