Mission Statement
The mission of Apple Playschools is to embody inclusion, innovation, and environmental stewardship in entrepreneurship and education in order to make a more equitable world. We facilitate innovative, play-based early childhood education promoting interpersonal relationships, equity and inclusion, and nature exploration. We envision an equitable world where all people are respected as capable, competent and empowered citizens of the planet.
About This Cause
Apple Playschools is leading progressive early childhood education for a better world. As a non-profit, we operate two unique preschool programs for infants through kindergarten across three distinct sites: Green Apple Garden Upper and Lower Playschools and Manzanitas Spanish Immersion Playschool and Kindergarten. Our Reggio-inspired programs celebrate and empower the whole child through outdoor exploration and the arts. Our preschools advance our mission by immersing children in nature through outdoor play, engaging children in gardening and food preparation, and teaching conflict resolution and collaboration at a young age. We are growing environmentally responsible children who will have the language and problem solving skills to interact and succeed in a diverse world. Our organization was founded on the idea that educators working in our schools should not have to choose between supporting their families, doing meaningful work, and having high-quality childcare for their children. We pay our teachers a living wage, support their leadership, growth, and development, and provide tuition assistance for their children to participate in our programs. We believe that adults in our organization deserve the same opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive as the students they teach. We carry the principles of our social justice branches through all levels of our work, supporting collaboration, innovation, diversity, and inclusion. We strive to learn, teach, and work in a way that promotes a healthy planet and demonstrates respectful global citizenship.
