About This Cause
Diapers are expensive and there isn’t any governmental assistance for them. Parents sometimes try to make due by leaving babies in dirty diapers longer, or reusing dirty diapers. The Idaho Diaper Bank collaborates with community partners to organize diaper drives, purchase diapers in bulk, and distribute diapers to nonprofit partner recipient agencies, ultimately assisting families and babies most in need. Diapers may seem like a small thing, but they can impact very significant things like: Healthier Communities - Dirty diapers can make us sick and spread hepatitis A, viral meningitis, and bacterial diarrheas. Not having diapers adversely affects a mother’s feelings of self-worth and can negatively impact the mother-child bond. Happier Babies-Frequent diaper changes prevent painful diaper rash, loss of appetite, staph, urinary infections, or renal failure. Access to clean diapers is an essential BASIC NEED. Babies who cry because their diaper is dirty will cry that much longer, increasing stress for parents struggling to make ends meet, and increasing the possibility of abuse Financial Independence/Early Education - Disposable diapers are required to attend most early childcare programs; without them, children miss out on educational opportunities and parents can’t attend work or school.
