Mission Statement

The Urban Wildlife Alliance is dedicated to safeguarding the welfare of wild animals in urban and suburban environments based on the concept of compassionate conservation. We do this through professional care for injured, sick, or orphaned wildlife, educational programs, wildlife conflict advisory and wildlife advocacy.

About This Cause

The Urban Wildlife Alliance (UWA), founded in 2014 by a group of wildlife enthusiasts and rehabilitators, is a grassroots, all-volunteer 501c3 non-profit charitable organization based in Manhattan. Our mission is to safeguard the welfare of urban wildlife through advocacy, the rehabilitation of sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife, education, and advice. As our cities grow and natural habitats shrink, we champion the cause of our wild neighbors, promoting a caring and compassionate society where all wildlife is treated as sentient beings. For over a decade, UWA has been dedicated to the principle of Compassionate Conservation. This principle aims to create a more humane and sustainable approach to ecosystems and wildlife management that benefits both animals and humans. We achieve this by providing professional care for injured, sick, or orphaned wildlife, offering educational programs, advising on humane wildlife conflict solutions, and advocating for the needs of urban wildlife.
