Mission Statement
Since 1910, Scouting has been an educational, youth development agency that offers youth and young adults, ages 6-20, a comprehensive program, conducted by volunteer adult leaders to develop character, citizenship and personal fitness. The Mid-America Council is one of the Nation's premier Scout Councils serving more than 18,800 youth in 58 counties throughout Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. It is the mission of the Council to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes.
About This Cause
Scouting programs are designed to meet the needs of today’s youth by implementing fun challenging activities that promote character development and physical fitness. With positive adult mentors, encouragement to “do your best”, and one-of-a-kind outdoor programs, Scouts see personal growth and develop of interpersonal, service-minded, conflict resolution, and leadership skills at their specific age level. Cub Scouting is a year-round program uniquely designed to meet the needs of youth in the first through fifth grade and their families through fun and challenging activities designed to promote education, develop character and build self esteem. Boy Scouting is an exciting leadership and character development program for young adults ages 11 through 18. With the support of adult leaders, youth learn self-confidence and develop personal values guided by the ideals found in the Scout Oath and Law. Venturing is a program for young men and women in high school and college designed to help them grow into responsible and caring adults through education and recreational experiences with an emphasis on high adventure and advanced leadership training. Exploring is a dynamic worksite-based career education program for young men and women ages 14 through 20. With the support of a local business and the community, Explorers develop social and leadership skills while gaining real-world career experiences.
