About This Cause
Mourning Hope’s programs and services are designed to serve children, adults and families who have experienced the death of someone significant. Support Groups Peer-based support groups help participants find hope and connection. Available for all ages, these free programs are offered online and in person: Family Grief Support Groups Young Adult Grief Support Groups Adult Grief Support Groups Survivors of Suicide Loss Support Groups School-Based Grief Support Groups Counseling & Consulting In addition to peer grief support groups for children, adults and families, Mourning Hope also provide short-term grief counseling and consultation for individuals and families. The Mourning Hope counseling program utilizes a teaching model. The Counseling Team consists of a licensed mental health professional (LMHP) and master's level college interns who consult as a team. This format gives Mourning Hope the opportunity to train future counselors in the field of grief, and provide counseling services to the community. The Counseling Team uses communication, creative expression, play and education to help children and families learn healthy coping skills and ways to process their grief. Grief consultation is also available to help individuals and families find materials, resources and support. Community Education Mourning Hope provides education, assistance, training, crisis support and networking to the community. Staff and trained volunteers give presentations to community groups such as schools, businesses, churches, associations and health care entities. Outreach to schools includes working with crisis intervention teams and/or teachers when there is a death or life-threatening illness in the school.
