Patriot's Hall of Fame Linebacker, Andre Tippett hosted Flavors of New England in Boston.Twelve's Day of X-mas hosted by Green Bay Packers star quarterback and Superbowl MVP, Aaron Rodgers benefitted children from the Ecumenical Partnership for Housing. Former Dallas Cowboys punter, Mat McBriar's Holiday Kicks for Kids benefitted the Muscular Dystrophy Association and brought joy to the families from the Dallas Children's Medical Center. Flavors of the Gaslamp along with its sister events, Flavors of Austin and Flavors of New England support our PPF Project for MS. The project includes a multi-faceted approach to raising awareness and funding for Multiple Sclerosis. After trying to get out of bed and falling down following the 2007 football season, NFL prospect Tyler Campbell, Earl Campbell's youngest son was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Keeping the diagnosis a secret from his teammates, Tyler worked on getting back into football shape. He received clearance to play football for the 2008 season and went on to graduate from San Diego State University with a degree in Business Administration. After his Pro Day at San Diego State in 2009, Tyler had another relapse with MS. As a result of this episode, Tyler's dreams of playing in the NFL were sidelined. This was difficult for both Tyler and his Father, Earl who had an illustrious career in the NFL and was concerned about the well-being of his son. Tyler remained in positive spirits, stating "when one door closes, another opens and I view my diagnosis as an opportunity to share my experience to help others". Since that time, Tyler has become an active Ambassador for the Pro Player Foundation. "I view my MS diagnosis as a blessing," he said. "I now have the opportunity to share my experience to help others living with this disease and make an impact on the MS community." Through joint physical therapy sessions, Tyler's relationship with his Father has also been strengthened due to MS. With Tyler's relapse and the lasting injuries from Earl's career in the NFL, they have faced health problems together. Tyler joined Earl's company, Earl Campbell Meat Products as a Sales Account Manager. He has also focused on building a family life with his wife, Shana and son in Austin, TX. Tyler's Father and co-host Earl Campbell, nicknamed the Tyler Rose was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1991. Earl's running style was composed of a rare combination of speed and power, making him a prolific running back from 1978 through 1985 with the Houston Oilers and New Orleans Saints. His historic achievements include being one of only three players to ever win the Heisman Trophy, being selected first overall in the NFL draft and inducted into both the Pro Football and College Football Hall of Fame. Earl has teamed up with Tyler and the Pro Player Foundation as a co-host to bring awareness and raise funds for Multiple Sclerosis. Tyler and Earl Campbell are Ambassadors for the National MS Society/Pro Player Foundation and Pro Player uses every media opportunity presented to promote Flavors and ask the public to join the PPF Project for MS. The Campbells also receive numerous requests to speak and are highly inspirational. Flavors of the Gaslamp, an event created to raise awareness and funds for cancer and honor family members who have been lost to the disease is co-hosted by Eric Allen. At 13 years old, Eric lost his beloved Grandmother to cancer. The Allen family is committed to fighting this devastating disease and Eric has kindly co-hosted the Flavors event since its inception in 2007. The Allen family is no stranger to Multiple Sclerosis as Eric's nephew battles with the disease. In 2012 Eric was excited to co-host Flavors of the Gaslamp with Tyler Campbell and Earl Campbell to raise awareness and funds to fight Multiple Sclerosis. Eric, a San Diego native played 14 years in the NFL as a cornerback for the Philadelphia Eagles, New Orleans Saints and Oakland Raiders. Eric's professional football accolades include being selected to the Pro Bowl six times, being voted a first team All-Pro in 1989, and voted a second All-Pro after the 1991 and '93 seasons. Eric is currently an ESPN NFL studio analyst and resides in Point Loma, CA with his wife, Lynn and their four boys. Pro Player believes fine food, football and philanthropy are a great recipe for creating awareness and funding. Recruiting NFL players and Hall of Famers to events as well as high profile Chefs to participate and create culinary specials attracts donors to support important causes. Past NFL celebrity participation has included NFL Hall of Famers Earl Campbell, Elvin Bethea, Darren Bennett, David Casper, George Gervin, Franco Harris, Kenny Houston, Ricky Jackson, Cortez Kennedy, Bob Lilly, Willie Roaf, Gale Sayers, Randall McDaniel, Andre Tippett, Jerome Bettis, Joe Greene and Tony Dorsett. Other NFL stars supporting the Pro Player Foundation include Cullen Loeffler, Quentin Jammer, Vince Young, Aaron Ross, Ricky Williams, Eric Allen, Jeff Blake, Vincent Brown, Jacques Cesaire, Antonio Garay, Ryan Lindley, Mat McBriar, Lorenzo Neal, Kevin O’Connell, John Pagano, Kendall Reyes, Manti Teo, LaDainian Tomlinson and many more! Pro Player partner Chefs like the Bonneville's, Jennifer Costello and Chris Hurley in Austin, TX add to the excitement around events. Other high profile chefs such as Brian Mercury of Harvest Restaurant in Boston, Massachusetts, Mario Cassineri with BICE in San Diego, California, and Erick Nixon with Flemings in Austin, Texas truly add the "flavor" to Pro Player events. We are beyond grateful to our Chefs for their commitment to our Flavors evenings and for showcasing amazing cuisine to draw our guests back yearly. We also rely tremendously on our volunteers and interns. We could not execute events without their dedication and commitment. The Pro Player Foundation uses the platform of our celebrity participation to shine a light on causes that might otherwise fall through the cracks. Pro Player is currently planning the 9th Annual Flavors of the Gaslamp event slated for September 26, 2016 in San Diego and the 6th Annual Flavors of Austin in Texas. We believe we can harness the tremendous power of the NFL fan base to create and grow unique events that donors want to participate in year after year. We want to give them a special evening and let the MS Community know we are working diligently for the cause. We hope to one day host a Flavors event in every NFL city.
