Mission Statement
The mission of the National Society of Black Engineers is "to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community."
About This Cause
The National Society of Black Engineers Portland Professionals Chapter (NSBE PRO-PDX) is focused on expanding the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics pipeline with exception professionals from the Black and other underrepresented communities while applying the techniques and principles of STEM to the academic, professional, and community-based endeavors aimed toward the strengthening of those communities in the Portland Metroplex. Through mentoring, professional development programming, networking events, and STEM initiatives, we aim to help at least 10,000 Black students graduate with STEM degrees every year by 2025 and to cultivate a professional community in the Portland Metroplex that will support the career and cultural growth of Black professionals in the area. We aim to become a source of Black talent for the area corporations and a fertile ground for academic, professional, and cultural development of the Black people in the area and beyond.
