About This Cause

Extended Hands of Hope is a Colorado-based 501c3 with a mission of offering safe housing and supportive services to survivors of sex trafficking. THE VISION of Extended Hands of Hope is to see survivors of sex trafficking thriving, and living out their passions and dreams with confidence and courage. Extended Hands of Hope safe house program at Avanti House provides restorative services that are built on the foundation of the agencies Vision, Mission and Core Values. The program is also guided by certain philosophies of treatment: trauma-informed, moral-based, and strengths-based treatment. The services and interventions derived from these values and philosophies are intended to decrease the impact of trauma on survivors of sex trafficking. A child who has endured such complex trauma often has difficulty managing emotions and displays behaviors, including but not limited to, symptoms of PTSD, depression, aggression and/or running away. In order to best meet the needs of this population Extended Hands of Hope-Avanti House provides services through a three phase-multimodal-model. The Carriers of Hope (CoH) Mentorship program provides restorative services to female youth recovered from sex trafficking as well as preventative services for those who have been identified as vulnerable to being trafficked. The mission of Carriers of Hope is to provide a structured, trauma-informed program where youth survivors and vulnerable youth can set and attain personal goals within the supportive context of healing mentorships. As the trauma of trafficking occurs in relationships we believe it is imperative for the healing process to include building new, safe and trusting relationships. Additionally, in providing services to those who are at high risk of being trafficked we hope to help reduce the amount of girls who are put through this traumatic experience. Our goal is to significantly reduce the recidivism rate for this population and offer support and resources the girls need to finish their education, heal from their past abuse, and move forward into a bright future full of hope and potential. We are also deeply involved in raising awareness of the issue of sex trafficking by educating our community on the truths and depths of the topic.
