Gasol Foundation USA works through research, evidence-based programming, and illuminating the obesity crisis as the greatest opportunity to improve the health of our children and their overall development.
About This Cause
Pau and Marc Gasol are brothers, Olympic athletes, and NBA All-Stars committed to children’s health. After collaboration with various organizations and seeing the growing epidemic of childhood obesity, Pau and Marc founded the sibling Gasol Foundations in 2013 in Spain and in the United States. The complexity of the childhood obesity epidemic requires a comprehensive approach to its prevention. This is why Gasol Foundation USA prioritizes three areas of intervention to reduce childhood obesity: Research, Programmatic work, and Advocacy. Gasol Foundation promotes scientific research through the evaluation of our programs and generating scientific evidence about childhood obesity and its determinants. We develop and implement innovative programs that promote healthy habits with children and their families to prevent childhood obesity. And we advocate to raise awareness and place childhood obesity at the center of our public policy and social priorities. Based on scientific evidence, Gasol Foundation US has developed a theoretical framework to promote children’s healthy habits with a holistic approach focused on four main determinants of childhood health and development: physical activity, diet, proper sleep, and emotional well-being.
