Mission Statement

Partner Liberia is dedicated to improving respiratory care, child welfare, and green energy solutions in Liberia, West Africa.

About This Cause

Partner Liberia is a charitable non-profit organization that has been working in Liberia since 2011. Our main focus is the improvement of quality of life in Liberia by addressing two major problems: respiratory failure, which is the leading cause of death in Liberia, and providing affordable, renewable electricity, which is one of the most undeveloped and least affordable utilities in Liberia. To address the issue of respiratory health, we have worked to develop the profession of Respiratory Care in Liberia. In 2012, we opened the first school of respiratory care in West Africa, the Liberian Respiratory Healthcare Institute. Our first class graduated following in 2015. Subsequently, we worked with the Liberian Medical and Dental Council to develop a nationally-recognized board examination and professional license for Respiratory Therapists in 2016. We are working to expand the program to all of the counties in Liberia and are now managing the respiratory care of all of the tuberculosis patients in Liberia. To address the issue of scarce and costly electricity, we have developed a sustainable solar energy program that trains and employs Liberian solar technicians. We have installed several dozen solar generators at rural health clinics previously unable to provide care with electrical devices or at night. We have also installed solar generators at five orphanage homes and two universities and are currently implementing a miniature solar generator system that is both low-cost and low-maintenance that can be used to power a typical household in Liberia. We also are the primary supporters of two of the largest orphanages in Liberia; one in Montserrado County and one in Grand Bassa County.
