Mission Statement

The Mission of Dover Shockwave Robotics is to promote STEM education in the Dover School District (Dover, NH) and its community. For the high school aged students, we provide them an environment to learn hands on practical experience through our precipitation in FIRST ROBOTICS CHALLENGE annual competitions. These robots are in turn shown in demonstrations at our community outreach events.

About This Cause

Dover Shockwave Robotics Team was first established in 2013 and has continuously support an FIRST Robotics Challenge (FRC) Robotics team out of the high school each year. We have been doing year round projects with students since 2016 focusing on special projects that are of interest to the students. In the past, our students has worked on projects such as Robotics Vision, H-Drive drive train, etc. Our primary focus is to give the students a safe environment where they will learn both hard and soft skills around STEM. Hard skill such as Robot Design, CAD/CAM, Advanced Manufacturing (3d Printing/Lathe/CNC Router) and Embedded Programming using Java/C++. Soft skill such as working as a team, leadership, speaking and representing the team at all events including community outreach. We participate in demonstration at our local library (https://www.dover.nh.gov/government/city-operations/library/), regional off season competition events such as Battle Of the Bay (https://www.frc319.com/battleofthebay), the annual NH Governor’s Cup (https://www.thebluealliance.com/event/2022nhgc), Thunder Over NH Airshow (https://thunderovernewhampshire.com/) and other regional offseason events. We also held annual booth space at the annual maker-fest at the Children Museum of New Hampshire (https://childrens-museum.org/), annual Dover Apple Harvest Day (https://www.dovernh.org/apple-harvest-day) and other local events by Bring Back The Trade (https://www.bringbackthetrades.org/). Our goal is to promote hands-on STEM education to students by giving them opportunities and resources to explore their creative ideas and learn from failures through iterative engineering practices.
