Mission Statement
To be a resource providing awareness of locally available agencies, services, and educational opportunities to help Pacific Islanders, especially those from the region of Micronesia.
About This Cause
Island Liaison, Inc. was created as a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization to address the needs of those who need help with accessing information and services, with a focus on people from the region of Micronesia who have relocated from their island homeland to the Valley. Islanders from the U.S. Territories of Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands are US citizens and have the ability to access many federal or state-funded medical services such as Medicaid or AHCCCS. The Independent island nations of the Freely Associated States (FAS) have entered into an Agreement with the United States, the Compact of Freely Associated States (COFA), which allows them to freely travel within the U.S. without a visa and with no time restraints. These Islanders are not eligible for many of these services. The Freely Associated States (FAS) are: The Republic of the Marshall Islands Federated States of Micronesia: Chuuk, Yap, Pohnpei, and Kosrae The Republic of Palau.
