Mission Statement
The BWCFI exists solely to assist families diagnosed with Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome, a rare (1 in 10,000 births) overgrowth syndrome. This syndrome has an increased risk of childhood cancers which can be addressed early if proper screening protocols are followed. It is our mission to educate and provide resources to BWS families as they navigate this road.
About This Cause
The BWCFI provides educational resources to the Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome (BWS) community. This includes informational DVDs with BWS specialists/researchers discussing various aspects of BWS. In addition to education, we offer help to families traveling by air to surgeries associated with some BWS symptoms (i.e. macroglossia, cancer) originally through partnership with American Airlines Miles For Kids. This American Airlines program is now administered through Children's Flights of Hope (CFOH) to donate airline tickets for necessary surgeries.
