PBC is a unique nonprofit that creates opportunities for veterans and military spouses to grow their skills and knowledge to grow their own businesses – businesses that will undoubtedly shape the future of our country.” — VADM, USN (ret.) John Bird, SVP USAA Military Affairs “At Google, we know that accessing the right resources at the right time is crucial for a startup's success. That's why we're thrilled to pilot a remote mentor program pairing Google advisors with Patriot Boot Camp founders to help them achieve their business goals and reach the next stage of growth. We look forward to supporting more founders in the year ahead, bringing the best of Google's products, connections, and resources to the Patriot Boot Camp startup community." --Nicole Froker is Partnerships Manager, Google for Startups "Techstars has been a long-time partner with Patriot Boot Camp. I was honored to be a part of the first PBC alumni program. Having them attend the Techstars MetLife Demo Day demonstrates our commitment across our programs." --David Brown is the Founder and CEO of Techstars. "Veterans are adept at leading, building and retaining teams. They have direct experience communicating a strategy to a team to in pursuit of a mission. This makes veterans valuable founders and members of a startup team. Patriot Boot Camp helps veterans translate their experience and skills to the startup context. We would all benefit from more Veterans founding startups and joining the startup team ranks." --Fred Wilson is an American businessman, blogger and venture capitalist, and co-founder of Union Square Ventures in New York City. “When I first attended PBC (Madison ’14) I was in the middle of a transition. The advice and friendships I took home from that gathering helped me return to Dallas and build Robin Technologies into a $4M+ business. When we made the decision to franchise, the PBC community was the first group I reached out to. I consider PBC to be the pre-eminent veteran entrepreneurship group and feel very fortunate to have been involved in this great organization in the very early stages.” **UPDATE** Robin was successfully acquired in 2019. --Bart Lomont is a co-founder of Robin Technologies, Inc. and currently serves as Chief Operating Officer for the Dallas-based, robotic lawn mowing company. Bart is a proud veteran of the Indiana Air National Guard and United States Air Force. "Patriot Boot Camp created a model that generates opportunities for a segment of society that deserves so much more than it gets. Not a gift or handout, but a way to develop a new vocabulary, a new set of skills and a new perspective. A path veterans can take that, through entrepreneurship, generates real value in the world. I see the need for this program every day. The tens-of-millions in funding raised to date by Patriot Boot Camp veterans helps illustrate just one of the benefits of the program. Other benefits include visible support for veterans, job creation and growth, and a magnet for additional capital that will energize and be used, at least in part, to support local economies.” --Tom Higley is a serial entrepreneur, currently Founder & CEO of 10.10.10 and X Genesis, both based in Denver, Colorado. “I had the pleasure of mentoring at the first Patriot Boot Camp event in 2012. I have always believed that military Veterans make exceptional entrepreneurs, and Patriot Boot Camp codifies this entrepreneurial potential in a powerful manner. Galvanize has been a proud supporter of Patriot Boot Camp since the day of our founding.” --Chris Onan is a Founder and Managing Director at Galvanize Ventures. "MetLife has a long connection to the U.S. military, with our earliest insurance policies protecting Civil War soldiers. Today, we are continuing that commitment not only through the products we sell, but also by actively empowering the veterans community to launch, accelerate, and scale their businesses." --John McCallion is executive vice president, Chief Financial Officer and executive D&I champion of the MetLife Veterans Initiative (MVI). (1) PBC accelerates early-stage startups by helping them achieve critical business milestones: “The PBC gave HyprLoco the needed resources and direction to continue with our overall mission of making the world smarter. We recently opened our new office in downtown Denver, continue to hire and sign deals. This would not have been possible without the PBC's support.” “After attending Patriot Boot Camp, I added an additional product line which has become a best seller. I also made some priceless contacts that I am still communicating with.” (2) PBC provides entrepreneurs with a nationwide community of peers and subject matter experts to help them accelerate and navigate the challenges of startup life. "In the military we are taught to adapt and overcome, and that team is mission critical. Bad situations are inevitable, but knowing you ALWAYS have a support system to get you through it is what keeps you going. And in my mind, that’s what PBC’s real mission is: to create a TRUE FAMILY; not a distant cousin you talk to every 5 years, but a true support network. One that gives you solid advice, even if it’s unsolicited; one that makes introductions to VCs, angels, and clients without being asked; one that goes out of their way to give YOU help first, before asking for help themselves. Being a true family is a core value of our team, and it was empowering going to PBC and feeling like our family grew from 4 to 60 within an hour of arriving..." - Chloe Kette, PBC Denver 2017 | Read full blog post here. (3) PBC connects veterans with high impact jobs and career opportunities in tech: "I'm a PBC alumni from a couple years ago. I ended up not pursuing my startup and accepting an offer from Palantir (who I met at PBC!!) last year and am now based out of Australia with them. Couldn't have happened without PBC!" - Nik Seetharaman, PBC NYC 2015 “Although I did not pursue my entrepreneurial idea, PBC changed my life. It made it crystal clear that the biggest problem most tech based ideas had was the lack of technical skills or difficulty in finding someone with technical skills. Seeing the fellow veteran at Living Social that had learned to code on his own woke me up to the idea that, perhaps, I should just learn how to code instead of having to depend on someone else for the rest of my life. Within three months I was at a coding bootcamp with two other fellow PBC alums. I am currently employed as a front-end developer and I LOVE my job." - Alejandro Oviedo, PBC DC 2012
