Mission Statement

The mission of the JIA Foundation is to connect and empower Japanese in America. Our goal is to help JIA live fulfilling and productive lives with appreciation for our heritage, become good citizens in the US community with clear JIA identity, and develop effective communication among generations of JIA families and the communities we live in.

About This Cause

JIA Foundation was founded in 2014 to meet the needs of current wave of Japanese immigrants and expats who benefit greatly from Japanese language specific services.Member ship is free and it offers free and fee-bases seminars and activities. “JIA” is an acronym which stands for Japanese in America. “JIA” is defined as those of any race and nationalities who speak Japanese and appreciate Japanese culture and values. The organization enriches and supports the lives of Japanese in America by providing social and educational services in a vibrant and nurturing community setting. There are many unknowns and pit falls in living overseas and the JIA Foundation aims to support every aspect of JIA member’s lives in order to help them find the resources to solve those problems” Community, Education and Identity are the key components of JIA programs. JIA Foundation aims to create a vibrant multigenerational community, facilitate services to make a positive difference in JIA’s everyday lives, and to help them to have confidence being JIA. As an organization representing the new wave of Japanese immigrants, the JIA Foundation will participate in local NPO community events and position themselves as the authority on today’s Japan. Now, with 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, the organization will seek donations from businesses and individuals in order to create an endowment to use for the health and wellness of community members. JIA also plans to work with other nonprofits and educational institutions to deliver high quality programs and services for community members. Ideas include, but are not limited to ,establishing a JIA community center, educating professional nursing and home care staff, providing scholarships to underprivileged JIA students, and JIA leadership training. Utilizing its network with current business leaders and media in Japan, the JIA Foundation aims to serve as a central information resource for the everyday needs of multi-generations of JIA and their families. It will also serve as an advocacy organization representing today’s Japan and Japanese. Regular Programs: JIA Salon Monthly get together to socialize in Japanese and brainstorm about future programs. Health and Longevity seminar series Equip participants with correct and useful health related information that are effective in the US and provide opportunities for them to ask questions to Japanese speaking health care professionals. JIA Leadership Conference Create a JIA business community and provide a forum to exchange ideas and learn from each other’s experience. JIA Youth Leadership Program Provide opportunities for children who have Japanese background to share their stories and think about their identity. We will introduce the concept of JIA and let them feel comfortable about who they are and how they look. We want to discuss how they can represent themselves in diverse society in the US. JIA Support Group Japanese language support group for new immigrants, divorcees, members with family issues, grief counseling and other social issues. JIA Celebration Annual community get together and a fundraising event.
