Mission Statement

Our Mission at D House of Angels is to enlighten and provide resources for safe housing for women and children who are facing a crisis of domestic violence throughout our community and society.

About This Cause

OBJECTIVES D House of Angels, in accordance to its mission, has the objective to: Provide nutritional meals to the less fortunate Provide a safe haven and education for the children that reside in the shelter Provide a safe haven for women and children who are in an attempt to escape domestic violence. Host fundraisers to keep the shelter’s upkeep Provide a resource center within the shelter where the women can utilize the computers for job search and get resources for housing to move forward in life. Provide safe transportation to those who have employment and need to continue getting to work. GOALS D House of Angels, in a month, has the goal to: Provide shelter to 15 domestically abused women for the maximum of 60 days Offer temporary services to 15 women and 15 children in the shelter Connect 10 unemployed women victims of domestic violence to various staffing agencies for their employment Provide tutorial services and basic education classroom experience for 20 children in the shelter Build one arts and craft room or one recreational area for 10 domestically abused children below age 10 Feed 15 shelter-seekers during their 60-day stay in the shelter Hold 5 workshops and awareness programs in a year to spread the message about the pervasiveness of domestic violence throughout the community PROGRAMS Childcare (La Angels) We provide a safe place for the children who reside in the shelter with their parents. We offer them continued education after school while the parent is still at work. They are attended to by hired daycare workers and preschool assistants. Activity Center The activity center is a safe space in the shelter where children can still play with the parents without worrying about their abuser seeing or locating their child. In the activity center, children and other residents can play social recreations such as air hockey, card games, coloring, board games, and puzzles. Housing We provide a safe haven facility for battered women and children who are facing domestic abuse, where they can temporarily stay for 60 days. In this shelter, they are provided with meals three times a day, a bedspace, and access to bathroom and toilet. Resource Center (RS Resource Center) We provide access to computers and technology for unemployed women in the shelter who are seeking job placement opportunities. We connect them to our partner service and staffing agencies to facilitate their employment before they exit the shelter. We offer employment process services such as document preparation to expedite for the women who may not be employed. (Partner with temporary service agencies) Counseling (Pathway Counseling Services) We provide one on one counseling and therapy for the family and then one for the children separately. Mental health therapists for adults and children, once a week Group Therapy (Getting To Know Thyself) Have weekly group meeting so that the women can express themselves and not feel ashamed. Transportation Service (Clear View Transportation) If the women don’t have transportation to work/kids to school, we’ll provide a safe way for them to get there. Options for bus pass or private van or partner with a transportation service provider. Book Club (The Circle of Knowledge) Where the women could read certain books and be able to collaborate amongst one another to overcome their emotions and fears of going back into the world.
