Mission Statement
The objective of Our Time 21st Century Seniors, Inc. (OT) is to motivate seniors (through various workshops) to live their best lives after retirement. We aim to engage the entire person – mind, body, and spirit, and enlighten them to the idea that life begins at retirement.
About This Cause
Mission “Our Time is not the Past – Our Time is Now” is our motto. Our Time 21st Century Seniors, Inc. is cognizant that many seniors suffer from loneliness, over-dosing, unemployment, and a sense that they are not appreciated. To change these perceptions, we believe activities performed with and by other seniors will prove that retirement need not mean drudgery. Our workshops in computer literacy, ink art, creative writing, sewing, return to school seminars, entrepreneurship, etc. will help seniors to see that retirement is the best time to finally do what they have always wanted to do while they were working for others and raising families. Seniors, to the extent possible, can take charge of their own lives; and indulge long dormant talents. Programs/Activities Our computer literacy, sewing and ink art classes are well received. We have plans to begin a Senior Archives Program, wherein seniors record their life stories, later to be produced as documentaries. These stories are unique, and should not be lost to history. Acting, play readings, day trips, healthy cooking/healthy eating, estate & financial planning, HIV/AIDS Prevention, etc. are done intermittently, but will become full-time activities as our resources increase. Some seniors are financially solvent, while others cannot pay for services, and we want to accommodate regardless of their ability to pay fees.
