Mission Statement
UrbanPromise Charlotte’s mission is to provide Charlotte’s low-income children and youth with the academic, spiritual, and social development necessary to become Christian* leaders determined to restore their communities. Our vision is three-fold: Reach a Child, Raise a Leader, Restore Community. We strive to fulfill this vision by reaching younger children (K-8th grade) through Out-of-School Time (after school and summer camp) programs and by raising high school leaders (called “StreetLeaders”) who are employed as mentors and counselors for the children who attend these programs. We restore community through our Alumni Support Program where graduates from our StreetLeader program receive support and guidance necessary to persist through and complete their post-secondary pathway of choice. We offer support from high school graduation through age 25 as they navigate life as a young adult. *Students’ and StreetLeaders’ participation in faith-instruction is non-compulsory (families may choose alternative activities) and compromises only 8% of program time.
