Mission Statement

Helping to improve the quality of life for children with cancer.

About This Cause

At Claire Parker Foundation we provide quality of life resources to pediatric cancer patients and their families. They do not have to walk alone. We currently have 5 programs: *Care Box Program - Our goal is to deliver a Care Box into the hands of every family fighting pediatric cancer in the region as soon as they walk through the hospital doors. Claire's Care Box has evolved over the years to become an invaluable encouragement to families beginning pediatric cancer treatment. A box that contains a stuffed animal to comfort the child, 2 handmade pillowcases to make the hospital feel like home, hygiene items for parents to be able to get clean, a journal to reflect and write down important questions, information about our foundation, and a $100 gift card to help them with food and gas during those first few days. *End of Treatment Program – The last day of chemo. A celebration as significant in a child with cancer's life as any other milestone. Children celebrate with their family, doctors, nurses and other caregivers. These boxes are designed for a child to document their big day through their point of view. To celebrate their end of treatment, we have included a personal bell, camera, autograph book with pens, a "You're a Hero" patch, and a wooden memory box for any keepsakes they may have accumulated during their journey. *Creative Therapy Program - A creative therapy program that gifts infants, children, adolescent and teenage patients an artistic outlook to ease the burden that cancer carries. We have recently added new age levels to our Creative Therapy program which allows young children to have fun, feel beautiful, and be creative during their difficult treatments. All age groups are packed in a cinch style bag so things can be easily taken home. Bags for children age 0-3 contain a board book and two age appropriate toys. Bags designed for ages 4-10 contain a sticker or activity book and a craft or building toy. And bags for teens 11-18 contain a coloring book and journal, colored pencils and either a "sparkle bag" with nail care items or a model car type toy. *Birthday Box Program - Spending your birthday in the hospital receiving treatments is the last place anyone would want to be. That’s why we’ve created a fun birthday box to help ease the struggle. This program enables hospitals to have a resource at their fingertips to celebrate that special day with a child and their family while in the hospital. This box includes things like a homemade pillowcase, birthday banner, and a gift card to go birthday shopping. *Grief Support Program - Provides support to families upon entering hospice and continues to provide an extensive support system for the entire family post-cancer. This is a three phase program to provide support to the family as no family should ever grieve alone. Phase 1 provides financial support to help with funeral costs, a memory bracelet engraved with child's name, and grief literature. Phase 2 arriving about a month later is a comfort box that includes: Prayer Devotional, Tea and mug, Eye Pillow, Soy Candle, Body Butter, Body Scrub, Eye Mask, and a Note of Comfort. Phase 3, A year later Heaven Day Flowers are sent to the family of their child’s first anniversary. All of these programs, combined with deep family and hospital relationships enable our foundation to be there for the child and family from the first day of diagnosis until the last day of treatment. These programs are a free resource to all hospitals we serve.
